My father was a workaholic. My brother and I were both worried he’d become depressed when he retired. Nope. He created all kinds of work for himself by starting a million projects. He said he never had enough time for all that he wanted to do. It was a great relief.

When we met with a financial advisor to interview her to find out if we wanted to work with her, I told her that I’m doing this because I know it’s the right thing to do, not because I think we have any future.

I believe music is an extension of humming and singing. Pretty simple. We can make music with our voices, so it’s natural to expand that with instruments.

Read-it-later services store content. I went to send a link to a friend last week and the source was gone. Luckily, I had the content stored and was able to copy / paste the original info to my friend after the domain expired. A bookmark doesn’t get the old data.

We asked what happened to her. They didn’t have my size, so she went to all the other shoe stores in on the block checking if they had my size. Incredible customer service. Quite unreal to a USA native.

Forget apps that help manage disk space with some ugly graph that’s difficult to understand. This just lists files and directories with the heaviest / most space used from top to bottom in a file tree. Essential. Here’s what it looks like:

There’s one weekly meeting that I’m in where my only contribution is to notice when we’re out of stuff to discuss but no one is wrapping up. I unmute and ask, “Ok, so can we wrap?”
I don’t understand why six other people just sit there saying nothing without ending it. I’ve got other shit to do. Don’t they?

I’ll check it out more when I have some free time. Fwiw, I went from Pocket to Wallabag. Still too new to comment on how the two compare. Import to Wallabag appears to have been a completely smooth transition (once I regained access to my Pocket account). This was when exporting from Pocket and importing to Wallabag. Trying to do it with the Pocket APIs failed every time.

I’ve been using RSS for more than twenty years. I’ve been using Pocket to save web pages for eleven years (migrated to Wallabag). RSS is great for catching new info. Read-it-later services are great for storing information.
It used to be Simpsons quotes. But now it’s been so long that I’ve forgotten most.
That’s the entire tech industry. I got in at the tail end of it being full of nerds who were interested in computers. Then jocks and the like found out it pays really well and now it isn’t fun anymore.
