  • In junior school I lost my pencil (because this was so long ago I’m not sure how that happened). Teacher told me to look for it rather than just giving me a replacement. I looked everywhere, under everything, and I didn’t stop looking for it because, well, what else was I supposed to do?

Anyway I got told off for that even though that’s what I’d been told to do.

I definitely got a ruler to the bottom in that class (in front of everyone) although I’m not 100% sure it was for that incident.

  • I’ve not been to Bucharest airport so I don’t know how big it is or how it is laid out. However, usually you will go to check-in and baggage drop for Lufthansa - they will have an area which is labelled up, you might need to walk around a bit but the check-in areas should all be next to each other - and they will give you a boarding pass. You then need to follow the signs to the gates. That will take you through security and usually to an area with duty-free shopping. You’ll see some boards there which will tell you which gate you need (look for your destination and the flight time or number). Sometimes they don’t announce it until the last minute. You’ll then need to follow the signs to that gate, it can be a bit of a trek if it’s a big airport (allow plenty of time to get there - I’ve had it where I’ve walked a fair way, past lots of other gates, then ended up having to get a monorail, followed by a bit more walking). When you are at the gate, wait until they call you for boarding. If it’s a big plane you’ll walk down a tunnel directly onto it, otherwise you’ll be sent outside and have to climb up the steps.

Airports can be a bit daunting but they tend to be very well signposted and lots of staff around to ask if you get lost.

    Enjoy your trip!

(Also don’t get used to business class - he’s been generous there, you’re very lucky)
