  • So, I’m an ardent ‘New Vegas is the best 3D Fallout game’ person.

But… Fallout 3 is not a bad game.

It is fun, it is enjoyable. It has solid game mechanics, it has a good number of well written characters and questlines, it is fun to just explore and find crazy shit.

    It has flaws, yes.

But it is far from bad.

It just isn’t as good as New Vegas, which imo, basically just did everything FO3 did, but better, had a better overall storyline, refined and improved on all the gameplay mechanics, added in new gameplay features/elements.

  • I am spending much less money than what I was spending on cigs, with a vape.

I was a pretty heavy smoker for a good while… been slowly tapering down the nic levels over time.

I guess if you just kept buying disposable vapes, yeah that’d be pricey, but … I spend about $35 a month on pods and juice… vs previously spending that much a week on cigs.

Pedro has been rather public about his embrace and defense of trans and queer folks.

Many trans and queer folks are disowned or actively hated by their families.

So… the ‘joke’ is that Pedro gets all the Happy Father’s Day messages instead… because he accepts them, when their actual dads don’t.

This is immensely depressing, hence the cigarette.

I also don’t use instagram, but enough stuff that happens on instagram filters through to media I do actually interact with that I can givd you this summary.

I mean yeah, he is not perfectly consistent nor ‘reasonable’, and… some nonsense plot inconsistencies/holes begin to crop up as the entire series keeps going.

That being said: I’m not saying I’m 100% guaranteed to be safe.

I’m saying I think I have pretty good odds, and thus so would a lot of other people who are self-aware and contemplativr enough to not be massive moral hypocrites, or in denial of or hiding some horrible secret in their past.

It can work that way, yes.

Its not as tasty or fluffy as egg washing the bread and then baking or cooking it, but if you … braise the toast lightly, or alter the proportions of your very well stirred mix for immersion… yeah, it can work, and at least some people I grew up with prefferred it that way.

You can also use a heavy cream in additiom to, or even instead of milk, again, gotta change the proportions of your mix to get the desired taste and viscosity from the mix.

Eh, if your toast looks like that, whip up some eggs, milk, a bit of vanilla extract, a bit of sugar, a bit of ground cinammon, and optionally a bit of salt…

Place that toast in your mix bowl for a few seconds, flip it over, few more seconds, then remove…

And now you have some excellent French toast.

The bits of slightly burned parts juat give it a more complex mouthfeel.

I was also going to say the SAW guy, but for different reasons:

John only targets people who he knows, who morally disgust him, or people who have personally made his own life considerably worse, or slighted him in some way.

If the scenario is… I have to survive 24 hours without being targetted by one of his kidnapping and torture plots…

Well, I do not have any deep, hidden secrets, I do not deny any part of my past to anyone willing to ask about it, I do not pretend to be something I am not. I have of course made mistakes, but they’ve never ruined any one’s life, and I freely admit and take responsibility for them.

Frankly, given my considerably traumatic life thus far, and my current status of… being crippled, doing not much beyond PT and lemmyposting all day, untill I finish recovery… and given that I have actually made friends out of actual, diagnosed sociopaths before…

I really do not think I would be the kind of person John would have any problem with.

If the scenario was just poof, both of us appear in a room and are both there for 24 hrs… we just… talk? Trauma bond over our fucked up lives?

John has, more than once, recruited into his schemes people who… pass his tests, whom he does not find morally abhorent.

I don’t have to agree with him on every single issue, I mostly just have to not be a hypocrite, and not intentionally try to offend or harm him.

Oh right, given that I have actually been held captive by a fentanyl addled mad man, for a week, and managed to talk my way into letting me leave… and then stumble over to a nearby firestation and tell them to call the police…

If I have actually survived a week of a very similar situation, I think I can survive just 24 hrs with a fictional character, who has a much, much more consistent, albeit still fucked up worldview.

  • Yeah, a great part of Lemmy’s fundamental design is that it gives the user so much ability to block specific toxic users and communities and even entire instances from being seen by that user.

A user who is interested in self regulating or limiting that potential adrenaline overload … is aided by Lemmy in doing so.

This is significantly different from how its nearest equivalent, reddit, operated untill about 2 years ago, when they finally added an actual block user ability.

Still don’t think you can block the entire user group of subreddit communities, the way you can block an an entire Lemmy instance, if you want to.

(At least not without some third party script or software… which are probably all broken by now given how hard reddit is cracking down on its API?)

Also, moderation and admin logs are significantly less opague than on reddit.

To the best of my knowledge, on lemmy, you can’t admin edit the post of someone you are arguing with to frame them, basically, and then turn them into a strawman of themselves, and then win that argument with them, and then ban them… as has happened on reddit.

Also Also, … lemmy at least not yet does not appear to have a problem with a massive flood of ai bots posting god knows what % of the actual content.

    Not saying Lemmy is perfect.

    I’m saying its better.

And I guess I’m also saying there’s a difference between being an alcoholic and enjoying an occasional drink from time to time.

Generally: Yes, of course, approach any online messsge board or social media with caution and skepticism… but different platforms can be significantly more conducive to generating negative mental health outcomes than others…

… short form video platforms collapse your attention span, anything that allows advertisements or ‘influencers’ who are basically just walking talking brand ambassadors lie to you to sell you all kinds of bs…

Thats not present on lemmy, at least not that I’ve seen… so in those ways, lemmy is the marijuana to say Tiktok’s fentanyl.
