13·5 days agowell, my instance makes a local copy of posted images… so when i moved bertstrips it uses my local copy of those images.
i guess it depends on where your communities end up
people hate the big cloud solutions, but this is the kind of thing their HA infrastructure prevents against… hardware failures
i dont enjoy using (or paying for) aws, but i will never have a firewall or disk failure.
trans men dont exist to maga. youd be labeled a woman and thats that.

theres only a few real reasons… lemmy does not have a lot of ‘microblog’ features (50% of the fediverse)… you cant, for example, follow mastodon accounts or have them follow you.
other platforms also add missing lemmy features over the same data. mbin has the equivilent of reddits karma in the form of ‘reputation’
