I don’t want to dissuade you, because Split Fiction is just as fun, game-play-wise, as It Takes Two.
But the story is not as good. And the characters are even more teeth-grindingly frustrating sometimes.
But still play it, it’s a lot of fun.

AIs will never be able to abstract away details correctly or design sensible workflows for boutique problems.
I’m not saying LLMs can, or will be able to, do these things. LLMs are likely a dead-end on the road to AGI. Dead-ends are part of progress. The crossbow eventually hits a dead-end in terms of propelling projectiles with ease faster and harder, but that isn’t the end of projectiles. We got cannons, then hand cannons, and then guns.
I’m saying if LLMs are cars, AI is “vehicles.” LLM is a subset of the broader category. We have helicopters and planes. They came later than horse carts and cars, but they’re still vehicles. And used some of what we learned building carts and cars, but also with new ideas and concepts.
And for all we know, someday someone will figure out how to harness the power of gravity like we did with electromagnetism, and we’ll have flying cars. We can’t know, but just because we don’t have the technology now doesn’t mean we never will.
Claiming it will never be able to do something is silly. We have no idea what advances will come in the future.

Not the current direction of AI, no. But the field is ever advancing. I won’t be shocked if we see AI capable of these things within my lifetime.

Likewise, though I am constantly saddened by how quickly the community started “othering” one another based on instance.
It’s like if you put a bunch of humans together they’ll figure out a way to hate each other. 😕

The 2013 turn to “flat” design felt quite fresh to me, and I haven’t really gotten tired of it yet.
Man, I have. I liked it at first, but I’m so ready.
The processing power wasn’t there yet in 2007 for the level of refraction and skeuomorphism that makes this look work on a system-wide level. In Vista and 7 Aero was just fancy transparency with some blurring and flares. But this design language Apple is showing off is beautiful. I hope others copy it (which will probably happen, since everything in tech is everyone copying everyone else).
(That said, I would probably also take a return to the 9x/NT4/Windows 2000 2.5D grey UI over the flat stuff at this point, so maybe I’m not a good source of opinion. 😅)
Apple hates giving users choices, though, so I hope they do ok for those folks.
They’ve definitely improved on this front. It’s fun comparing my iPhone homescreen (a user who moved to iPhone after over a decade of Android customization and arrived at almost just the right time) to people who’ve used iPhone all along. They don’t know what to do with themselves, they’re still pages of app icons.
Meanwhile I’m sitting here with a single beautifully minimal screen with some folders and a big ‘ol weather widget, a swipe gets me to a page full of useful widgets, a swipe the other direction gets me to my app drawer or whatever the hell Apple calls it.
Disagree. 2000, Vista, and especially 7 all looked better than XP. XP was childish.
Nothing else works
With the exception of some UI elements I need third party tools to restore to their previous customizability, I’ve had no problems making anything that worked in 10 work in 11. Which isn’t surprising, 11 is 10, with a shitty UI redesign.
What doesn’t work?
Man I loved Aero and I’m excited for iOS and iPadOS 26. Shit looks beautiful.
There are a lot of things they’re supposed to do that they don’t.

Yep. I was really annoyed when Windows moved away from the aero effects of Vista and 7 to the flat look of 8/8.1, 10, and 11.

I dunno man, I’ve seen The Abyss, I don’t think it’s very peaceful down there with all the aliens and Cold War submarines.
There’s all-inclusive resorts, yes, and I’ve found they’re generally more expensive than cruises. If you make your resort hotel float, it’s cheaper. I don’t know why.
Because you can get away with following very few regulations if you’re in international waters, and pollute the shit out of the environment. Cruises are horrible, environmentally speaking.
My wife’s family loves cruises. I have made it very clear that I am morally opposed and will not join them on one, but her mom has tried to schedule a cruise as a family vacation anyway at least twice. I think she now finally understands I’m not going to be convinced by being told how much fun they are, after I outright said, “I understand they’re awesome, I’m sure I would love it, but I am not going to support that industry and its practices.”
At one point I honestly think she thought if she just got it scheduled and everyone else was onboard I’d come along. Fortunately she never got that far.
(I promise she’s actually a pretty cool person, I love my mother-in-law very much, but she can be stubborn.)
Why would they “prove” something that’s completely obvious?
I don’t want to be critical, but I think if you step back a bit and look and what you’re saying, you’re asking why we would bother to experiment and prove what we think we know.
That’s a perfectly normal and reasonable scientific pursuit. Yes, in a rational society the burden of proof would be on the grifters, but that’s never how it actually works. It’s always the doctors disproving the cure-all, not the snake oil salesmen failing to prove their own prove their own product.
There is value in this research, even if it fits what you already believe on the subject. I would think you would be thrilled to have your hypothesis confirmed.
They’re just mad they don’t have any friends or a partner to play it with.
