  • No idea about tools although I hope you find something.

Two related suggestions that will change your life:

    1. Grunt Fund if you are making decisions about equity
    2. Have people estimate the total time for a task, rigidly enforce that every man-hour spent on a project has to be allocated to one of those tasks (including the elusive but vital “oh shit we forgot” task), keep track of the coefficient between the two. It’ll be different for different people sometimes. When estimating a project, have people come up with estimates and then multiply by the coefficient. Be transparent with everyone about this system. It’ll revolutionize your project management life once people get used to it. I tried to find a blog post which explains more detail, but honestly, it’s not complicated, and Google is too shit now to find it.

  • Ooh… that’s a good point. Any discussion which gets fed into the debate bot will get fed into OpenAI’s API, which means it’ll be used for training. (I trust their “do not use this data” checkbox not at all.) And I think you’re right that having that happen will be a deal-breaker for most people and just a totally different thing than the purpose of the community as stated.

Let me think on that a little more. I won’t do anything with the tool until I can look into self-hosting it or something. I think consider it as purely a human community until further discussion, then.

  • Wiki Wars: Editors and propagandists are fighting for influence over the online encyclopedia’s most controversial entries

Oh shit this sounds good, definitely the whole saga of Wikipedia fighting back against propaganda is endlessly fascinating and they are an important success story as regards how to do it, since they’ve been mostly-successfully resisting it for decades, while most of the rest of the internet has been getting steamrolled since in the last few years it really got going in their domains.

    wikipediasuckscoop@lemmy.world

    theins.ru

    Lol okay never mind

Nope, before you’re jumping the gun by accusing me of spreading Russian propaganda simply because the domain ends in .ru you should know

I mean… I’m pretty skeptical. I have interacted with you before and I remember your level of commitment to anything factual being pretty minuscule. But sure. It’s worth at least taking a look, I guess, instead of just operating on preconceptions even if they are well-informed ones.

researchers from the Anti-Defamation League accused Wikipedia of biased coverage

Some critics believe that the Web’s main encyclopedia needs reforms, such as the introduction of user verification

Lmao I think we’re done here
