PeriodicallyPedantic@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do adults still have time to play video games? (I mean: Do *you* still have time?)1·3 hours agoDepends on how much you wanna sleep every night.
Do I have enough time if I wanna get 8 hours of sleep? No.
Do I have enough time if I sleep 4 hours instead? Yes
Do I game? No, because I tell myself I’m going to go to bed in just few minutes so I don’t have time to start a game, then I get sucked into whatever I’m doing and next thing I know it’s 3am and I still need to shower before bed.

PeriodicallyPedantic@lemmy.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do adults still have time to play video games? (I mean: Do *you* still have time?)1·3 hours agoWhen my child was a baby I played tons of games, because they napped so much.
My wife and I would each take an 8 hour shift alone while the other person napped, and an 8 hour shift together. While I was alone and my child was napping for a couple hours at a time, I could get in a few games.
This, of course, relies on you living somewhere that gives reason amounts of parental leave to both parents.
Once my child got older, and started sleeping through the night, and we had to go back to work, then the shift system didn’t work anymore, and my gaming took a precipitous decline

When I have free time, I spend it on my hobby projects, or I’ll watch YouTube because it’s less commitment (i mostly play multiplayer games where I don’t wanna quit on my teammates mid-match).

It’s almost like productivity isn’t our purpose in life.

More like… The regular media. RIP journalism
But the arsonist, tho…
I feel like most jobs require arithmetic.
But it is not my career to be a pedant, just my role in life 😜
I mean, I’m just pedantic; double check with a mathematician, to be sure lol
Hey, that’s my job!
Also I don’t think that’s technically the technical classification. I think that sidedness is an attribute that simply doesnt apply to curves.
You can approximate curves with some number of sides, and the approximation gets more accurate as the number approaches infinity, but it doesn’t actually have the infinite sides.
I’m not a math major, but I always considered it that a square is a special case of rectangle, a rectangle is a special case of parallelogram, and a parallelogram a special case of a quadrilateral, a quadrilateral a special case of a simple polygon.
This shape isn’t a polygon, so it cannot be a square.
You didn’t explain, you begged the question
There is no way to know that were not constantly dying and being replaced. The experience of continuity may be an illusion because you don’t notice that you’re only alive for a split second, and replacing the consciousness that was alive a split second before you.
Again, I’m not trying to make the world of cars more realistic. I don’t care that they would have evolved differently, that’s not something from the movie. I’m not interested in imagining how the movie could have been different.
Cars is a movie where cars are people
We are people
Cars exist in our world
Imagine that’s what we were.
But trying to extrapolate from nonsense movies is the fun part!
Let me rephrase, I’m not trying to make the world of cars more realistic, I’m trying to imagine “what if we were as relatively fragile as cars are”. What if our normal every day activities like walking were as risky to us as driving is to a car.
Hmmm… You’re right that cars don’t crash as much as people trip. But they still crash a lot
And while if a cheetah trips while running it’s fine, if a car crashes at its top speed, it will completely come apart. Heck, if a car crashes at highway speed, it’s typically still absolutely destroyed, and highway speed is only gonna be like 1/2 or 1/3 its top speed, so that’s the equivalent of jogging.
A big part of this is the fragility of cars vs their speed. That deleted scene is… It’s… Well that raises so many questions about their universe. I’m just gonna ignore that part lol.
