  • No TVs either? Most laptops over the last 15+ years have HDMI/VGA which is generally available on TVs made in the last 15+ years too.

Additionally, if you get Windows 10/11 Pro (can be gotten for free nowadays with some searching) or Linux, you can either SSH or RDP into those boxes so you’d only need the monitor/TV on first time setup. After that, you’d just have the box sitting in a corner and you’d remote into that from another device. I have a Windows 11 Pro and Raspberry Pi at my home that I remote into. I even use my iPhone to remote/SSH, so you don’t even need a computer for remoting either. The options to SSH/RDP are even better if you’re on Android, in my opinion.

  • Game prices? I understand the Nintendo cult is always stiff. But for the last 10 years these people bitched about $70 games. And now they are just throwing excuse after excuse defending $80 games now. But the lie I’ve been hearing is “Sony has been selling $80 games since the PS5 came out” No… No it hasn’t. There is not one base PS5 game for $80 ever made.

I’m very much against this and always have been, but I think not everyone has been. Some people will buy these games at any cost, especially when it comes to Nintendo and children. Children don’t understand the true costs and parents just want a happy kid and think it’s not that bad of a price for their kid to be happy. Most probably don’t pay attention to the price to see that it once was $50 and now is $80 for the new games.

It’s infuriating for me because my boycott effectively means nothing when these people exist. But no matter, I’m happy with my PC and waiting on emulation when it comes to play these games.

  • You forget that the companies making those cheap cars are often the same companies of the fancier cars. Thinking Hyundai and their Genesis line.

Hyundai will never make a Sonata look like a fancy super car because then they won’t have any reason for someone to want to pay more for the fancier models that their Genesis line has for 3x the cost.

The people buying the fancier cars want something exotic that no one else is driving on the roads. They will willingly pay the premium for that luxury to not look like the rest of the cars on the road. Many also don’t care what’s under the hood, i.e. doesn’t matter if a cheaper Chevy can beat their Maserati, they’re buying the car for the exotic looks.

And then you also have some people who don’t want something flashy even if it is cheap. When I lived in a not so great area, I specifically did not want anything that drew attention to me. For example, I didn’t even want to wear knock offs of high end clothing like a knock off of Gucci clothing because it makes people think I have money and am a target for being robbed. So yes, I want the generic 4 door sedan the broke college kids are driving. Maybe the local thief won’t be so likely to smash my windows or try to carjack me.

  • I pulled out my Steam Deck just now to confirm because I wanted to be sure I’m being accurate.

But yeah, on low, I was able to get up to 60 but it looks like now I’m getting high 50 fps on low settings. But I remember getting 60 at some point because I remember being surprised and amazed it could handle that and for specific amounts of time! I’m wondering if a new update may have changed this. This was prior to their update with ray tracing when I was getting 60 fps.

On medium settings, I’m getting high 40 fps running about the city and even in combat. Still pretty and very stable looking at these frames.

This is all outside of the DLC area, where I got much less before.

The Steam Deck is an amazing device! The fact it can generate these results at all is pretty amazing. I’m curious how it compares to the Switch 2 in this. It will be interesting to see someone do a direct comparison between the two.
