I’m surprised by the number of downvotes I got, not that I particularly care about them per se, but the implication that so many people are either Muslim or support Islam on Lemmy is worrying.

Islam. A combination of misogyny, oppressive laws, puritanical beliefs, child mutilation, condemnation of curiosity, and a particular focus on growth of numbers by both birth and conversion. Other religions are close behind though.

Not a Jew, but my family’s Jewish, and it’s about as difficult as you’d expect. They get offended by the slightest implication that maybe Israel isn’t perfect, assume I support Hamas just because I’m opposed to the IDF killing children - to clarify, I’m opposed to anyone killing children, including Hamas. We don’t talk about it that much though.

From what I hear from others, I’m really lucky this way, but I tend to go to sleep when I’m tired. Also, my watch’s alarm clock wakes me up really nicely, trying to not interrupt a REM cycle, vibrating first then gradually playing rainforest sounds, so I usually feel rested in the morning.
