Sadly the quality was dipping for the last few. I didn’t finish Unseen Academicals.

Now with instant publishing on the web it’s more important to get the basic story out fast. With the hope it’s the one that sites like reddit pickup.
Hugin@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•For those who play games on a PC with 2 monitors, are you a game on the left screen or game on the right screen person?2·8 days agoGame on left, Wiki if need on right, drawing tablet on far right playing music or dialog heavy content.
I’m left handed so that’s the main reason for gaming on that side.
Check out Real Engineering. He does good research and a lot of his own interviews.
Practical Engineering writes hits own material and makes a lot of mini models to demonstrate the effects he is talking about.
Red Letter Media has a ton of movie discussion and analysis.

I thought about what else I could do. Building settlement wasn’t fun. The quests stories were dull. I didn’t like any of the NPC characters. So I stopped playing figuring I would come back latter.
It’s been years and I still haven’t bothered returning. A I’ve been playing Bethesda games starting with daggerfall.
Hugin@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•is white light "white" because that's what our start emits?24·13 days agoSo white light is when your brain sees a roughly matched signal level on all three color channels. So white would be all of whatever color receptors we evolved for the planet. It’s more of a signal overload than a color.
We actually can’t tell the difference between the mix of primary colors and the actual color. Take Cyan at about 490nm. Looking at it triggers your red, blue, and green receptors in a spefic set of levels your brain reads as Cyan.
However your brain can’t tell the difference between a signal at 490nm and the right combination of 440, 540, and 580 nm. So for example a tv can only show 3 colors but your eyes and brain can’t tell the difference between that and all the natural colors.
We are the most sensitive to green because it’s the wavelength least used by photosynthesis and most plants reflect it. So we evolved to be extra sensitive to it. Camera sensors are usually 50% green, 25% red, 25% blue.
A small number of women have a mutation allowing them to see yellow. So some women can tell the side difference between true yellow and a primary color mix.
Both are used. If you see caliber after the number it’s in 100 of an inch. If you see mm it’s metric. (Though caliber refers to barrel diameter and can be expressed in imperial or metric). So a 45 caliber is 0.45 inches or about 11.5mm.
NATO has standardised on a few round types so they can share supplies between countries. The NATO 7.62×51mm round is very similar to the .308 and they can usually be interchanged.
Linux isn’t going to help much when the applications are using a lot ram. Firefox is an absolute ram hog linux or windows. Linux is just going to use less of the ram for it self.

Hugin@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Who is a celebrity you used to really like, but don't anymore?82·14 days agoA lot of his humor was based on things you want to do but don’t. So exploring dark desires that you should not act on is reasonable for comedy. Then it comes out that he did some of that stuff and it’s not funny anymore.
Hugin@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Japan's annual births fall to record low as country's 'silent emergency' deepensEnglish3·15 days agoIt’s a big issue. The problem is there are a large amount of elderly people and not enough young people to care for them and keep the economy going.
Population age graphs used to be a triangle. Lots of kids some adults and a few elderly. So there were a lot of people to care for a small number of the elderly and a big group to care for you when you became elderly.
These countries age graphs look like upside down pears. Lots of elderly some working and few children. So more work by the young to care for the elderly.
Hugin@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Japan's annual births fall to record low as country's 'silent emergency' deepensEnglish10·15 days ago1.15 in Japan 0.72 in Korea. so yeah.
Both countries have high cost of living and expect women to drop everything and become full time moms and care for their parents and inlaws.
Women for some reason don’t find that appealing and decide to not have kids. Many refuse to get married if there partner wants kids.
Even men often don’t want children as they are expected to work long hours to support the family.
