Do they not rerun this one anymore?
Alcohol is a social lubricant, if you’re a drinker then yes it’s pretty natural to assume a few drinks on a first date would loosen both parties up. Not everyone is a drinker and that’s fine but I don’t think it’s weird at all to want drinks on an occasion where people are probably a bit nervous and awkward. Re: driving, take an uber? The bus?
You might be surprised by how vigorously people will argue against this point.
It’s called SAFe and it’s an art form.
Means we change requirements mid-sprint, right?
I dunno, my cat doesn’t like to watch, she likes to go “who the fuck is this bitch on my half of the bed?”
Or the product manager just now understands them.

It also sounds like they targeted you specifically while you were waiting in line. So not only did they only approach you about it when they could’ve asked anybody, they approached you in a place where it’s hard for you to just walk away. That’s sus to me, I think your instincts were right to not give them an in.
Bit rude, yeah, but sometimes it’s better to be rude than let someone cross your boundaries. How much more awkward is it if you say “yes” or “maybe” and then they ask if they can borrow your phone or something and you have to evaluate whether you trust this random person while they’re looking right at you? A lot of people are definitely asking this way because it gets you to let your guard down and they know you would’ve said no if they’d just straight asked. Personally I tend to respond with “you can ask” or something like that. Making it pretty clear that I’m skeptical of what they’re going to ask. But my default assumption of other people in a city is that they’re potentially either trying to scam me or rob me.
Playing back a message when you hear someone pick up? No, they’ve been doing that forever. But trying to determine whether you have a human on the line or just their voicemail recording? That’s something that could start to require more sophisticated language models, and the fact that the message didn’t just start rattling something off as soon as something picked up suggests maybe they’re using it. Actual phone scams using AI? Well, if they’re not doing it yet, they will be soon.
It’s AI, I’d be willing to bet. Waiting to detect a human before responding with whatever scam they’re selling.
See, for me, if you call me and don’t leave a voicemail, I’m going to assume it was unimportant (or spam) and I won’t call back. Businesses, which are most likely going to an unknown number, should leave a voicemail if they want any action on my part. I mostly don’t want businesses texting me because they tend to spam the fuck out of you. And I’m sure as fuck never going to pick up the phone for an unknown number.
Hypocrisy has never stopped him before and the immunity he’s been granted is very broad.
And now he’s pissing off someone who has shown full willingness to weaponize the Justice department.
But I also brought up civil court for a reason. Trump doesn’t really have direct leverage there and the discovery process could be very interesting in a case like that. A victim involved in the Epstein case may very well have standing to bring a civil suit if Musk is making information that’s harmful to them public.
Right? Accessing non-public information related to legal proceedings could very well be breaking the law. This is the sort of thing that could be actionable, in criminal or civil court.
One wonders if musk actually has any special information about this, and if so, how he got said information.
I think I’m on the side of “if you do this in your code, you deserve what you get.”
First one I used? Either a ][e or ][gs at school. First one our household owned? A 286 (not any particular brand). First one that was “mine”? A mac LC2. First one i paid for with my own money? Uhhh I just remember it was a Dell, probably a pentium 4?
I like the disgaea series not only because of the deep systems involved, but also just because gameplay is so snappy. So many SRPGs are slow as molasses in terms of interface. I also really enjoyed Unicorn Overlord recently.
